Why we invested
Halyard began as an internal tool at a payments company and was adopted by four other engineering organisations before the founders had incorporated. We wrote the first check on the strength of that pull alone.
Bottom-up adoption is easy to claim and hard to fake. In Halyard’s case we could read it directly in the install graph: teams found it, kept it, and told other teams. Our job at seed was to stop the company from prematurely building an enterprise sales motion around a product that was still winning on its own merits.
We led the Series A eighteen months later at a valuation the market has since validated several times over.
